Legal

Acceptable use

A short list, because a camera is a camera and most of this is obvious.

The software

Please do not:

  • Publish or share your licence key, or use one key beyond the five Macs it covers.
  • Resell, rent or redistribute the app.
  • Work around the licence check, or help others to.
  • Decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law gives you that right regardless of what we say here.

What you record

Cappture records through your Mac’s camera, microphone and screen. What you do with that is yours to answer for, and the law about it varies by where you are.

  • Recording other people. Some places require everyone’s consent before you record them, in person or on a call. Check what applies where you are.
  • Screen recording. A shared screen can carry someone else’s private information, or material that is not yours to publish.
  • Material involving children, or anything unlawful. Do not use this software for it.

We cannot police any of this — your captures never reach us, which is the point of the design. It stays your responsibility precisely because it is out of our sight.

This site and our servers

Please do not:

  • Try to break into accounts that are not yours, or probe the licence system for weaknesses without asking us first.
  • Send automated traffic heavy enough to degrade the service.
  • Use the contact form or feedback to send abuse, spam or malware.

If you think you have found a security problem, please tell us at hello@getcappture.com before telling anyone else. We will not be difficult about it.

If this is broken

We may suspend or revoke a licence being used in the ways listed above. Where we can, we will write to you first. See the terms for the rest of the agreement.
